Small Businesses Feel the Benefits of EBay Selling
If your business is not using eBay, have you considered the potential income and information you could gain by doing so?New research by eBay has shown that almost 70,000 people in the UK gain at least a quarter of their income from eBay selling; while approximately 35,000 earn up to and over three quarters of their income.
The benefits of effective eBay sales can also be seen in small businesses that use it in addition to their usual business. 70 of sellers said that eBay positively contributes to their success by facilitating cross-border trade, helping to increase sales and improving profitability. The average eBay SME employs 9.4 staff, and an impressive 29% are looking to hire more staff in the coming 24 months.
Advantages of selling over eBay include the ability to sell excess and out of date stock; testing new stock ranges, and researching new trends. With over 50million users in Europe alone, you can hugely expand your potential customer base; and unlike creating an e-commerce website, the setup costs start from almost nothing.
Of course, eBay is only a good sales tool for those selling items that can be reasonably sent through the post or courier; and you may get better prices for specialty items (E.g.: Antiques) at auctions or private sales. However, the minimal risk (especially if you set a minimum selling price) involved means that with suitable products you can potentially expand your sales and markets at the same time.
